Jet Lag baby

When Alyssa was 7.5 months old, we flew from Germany to Hong Kong and back, she got no problem at all with jet lag. We thought that may be it is simply easier for baby to cope with jet lag, as anyway they sleep a lot during the day and night. Thinking back, Perhaps, it was because when we went HK, she was not sleeping well on the way and we arrived in the early morning in HK and we planned to see all the four grandparents in the first day, so there was no chance for any of us to sleep even after max. 3 hours of sleep on the plane. At the end, Alyssa, Mami and Papi all got no jetlag.

This time, we flew to California from Germany. Alyssa got some jet lag when she was in California, but that is not too bad, she woke up at around 5am and stayed up for 2 hours and then she will get her nap :-) and Papi and Mami could get back to sleep for an hour or two.

However, it is really very very tough this time when we flew from California to Germany (west to east). The time difference is 9 hours. We tried to put her to sleep at the usual time of 8pm, but after 2-4 hours of nap, she will be totally awake and cannot be put back to sleep. Our midnight schedule is as follows since last Saturday :

Sat. 12am-4am awake
Sun. 12am-3am awake (woke her up at 9am in the morning)
Mon. 10:30pm-1:00am awake (woke up at 9am in the morning)

It seemed improving until last night. Mami thought that let's only let her wake up for 2 hours or less and after she woke up at 10:15pm, she tried to put Alyssa to sleep at 12:15am, but it was so difficult and at the end she went back to sleep only at 4am..................................

Geez..... when will this return back to normal.
